Library Quiz

How well do you know the school library?  The senior students produced quizzes on PhotoPeach to meet two purposes 1) to show their skills in using the library and 2) to help others learn to use the library.
Here are three of the quizzes. Have a go - how many questions can you answer correctly?

Double Act book review

Title: Double Act
Author: Jacqueline Wilson
IIllustrated by: Nick Sharrat
Review by: Anaiya

Description: Ruby and Garnet are two 10 year olds  who are Identical twins.Their mother died 3 years ago and their horrible stepmothe'rs name is Rose but they call her "STUPID FRIZZY DIZZY ROSE".  The 2 twins get a chance to go to London and be on a T.V show. Will they get a chance to escape?

Opinion: I think this book is great.
It is very funny and a good book for 7-11 year olds.
My favourite characters are Ruby and Garnet because Ruby is quiet and sensible and then all of a sudden the adventurous and outgoing Garnet comes in and steals the show.

My rating for this book is 4\5

The Bad Beginning book review

Description :
Dear  reader
I'm  sorry to say that the book you  are holding  in your hands  is extremely unpleasant.
This book has so many unfortunate events that from the first line you could put it down
and say this is a horrible boo.k I like happy books. If that is the type of person you are well
probably go and read something happy and cheerful.

Opinion :

This is a sad sad book. The Baudelaire children have been through extremely unpleasant  events. I would  recommend this book for 9 and up because Count Olf is mean, so so mean. I would recommend this book if you  like bad unpleasant books this is the book for you and if you don't still read it. This is a sad and cool book .But their great uncle twice removed is the worst person in the world.
I  rate this book a 5 plus out of 5

The Witches book review

The Witches by Roald Dahl
Reviewed by Sharvi

Description:
Witches really are a detestable breed. They disguise themselves as lovely ladies, when secretly they want to squish and squelch all the wretched children they despise. Luckily one boy and his grandmother know how to recognize these vile creatures -but can they get rid of them for good?

Review: I think this book is awesome because when you read this book it has lot's of expression. I liked the part when the grandma tells the boy about the witches and what they're like and how they disguise themselves as lovely ladies. I also like how they work together to stop the witches from taking the children and murdering them.

5 out of 5

Cinderella the Fairytale Files book review

Cinderella the Fairytale Files by Alan Durant
Reviewed by Emma

Description:
This is a book about a girl who had a terrible family.  Her sisters and step-mum are mean to her.  They keep her locked up in a room and make her do all the cleaning. One day the older sisters get a letter saying they were invited to the royal ball.  Will Cinderella make it to the ball or not?

This is a bit different to the original Cinderella story because she gets heaps of letters from people asking her about her life but she can't send any letters back.

Opinion:
This is a fun book. I think people will love it especially ages 5-10. I think people will like it because it has got lots of letters inside you can pull out and read, like shopping lists and also letters from Rumplestilskin. My favourite character is the step mother because she has got every one thinking she is so nice but in reality she is the worst mother you could have as she cuts Cinderella's hair and tortures her.

4 out of 5

The Lorax

Coming soon to a movie theatre near you - The Lorax.  Have you read the book?  Read it while you are waiting for the movie to start showing in New Zealand on March 29th.  I wonder if the movie will be the same as the book?  Sometimes people prefer the book, other times people prefer the movie.  You be the judge by reading the book then watching the movie.
